MPBN Maine Calling, on the radio and Golden Road Marsh 12
"Golden Road Marsh 12" pastel on paper, 9 x 24, 2013 |
Today I had the opportunity to be on The Maine Public Broadcasting Network radio call in show hosted by Jennifer Rooks with Marsha Donahue (http://www.artnorthlight.com/) , Barbara Ernst Pray (http://www.barbaraprey.com/) and Andres Verzosa ( http://www.aucocisco.com/) discussing the business of art in Maine. We certainly just barely touched the tip of the iceberg on this topic, especially the economic impact of the arts in Maine. After the show I thought about my own economic impact as an artist just yesterday and today: had my work shot by Jay York Photography, bought supplies at Artists & Craftsmen, picked up framing from Art House Picture Frames, and had dinner at the Frog & Turtle before hanging my work at Saccarappa Art Collective for our new show opening on Friday. Purchasing a painting, photo, jewelry, pot or sculpture from a Maine artist directly supports their work and the work of so many others. Please consider supporting the arts in Maine with a purchase of something hand made by a Maine artist!
