This morning I asked Marsha Donahue at North Light Gallery where to paint today and she said here! I've been wanting to paint here, it was a perfect spot, cool and shady, 57 degrees. Spent 2 1/2 hours painting here, just when I finished about 10 feet in front of me a spot in the road started moving and baby turtles started hatching by the dozens!!! I've never seen turtles hatching, this surely has to be good luck, but kind of late in the season for the turtles? Then I had lunch at Abol picnic ground and traveled the whole park road to Matagamon Gate, through Patten and Stacyville, a beautiful sunset over the mountain all pink, blue and purple. Another great day painting in the Katahdin area.
