Making my way back home after dropping off 13 new plein air paintings at the St John Arts Centre, may seem like only 13 paintings in 3 days and 2 hours but that's 21.75 linear feet of paintings, lot's of driving, setting up and taking down, wind, fog, heat, cold, bugs, deer, porcupine, etc!!! Saw some of the work of the other artists, this will be a super fabulous show. Reconnected with PSA friend Jude Valentine in St John, she has beautiful mini pastel, mixed media pieces in the show. Loved them. Stopped along Rt 1 North Coastal just north of Perry and painted at the side of the road. Here's the thing with plein air painting...it's always a new challenge...today light wind, 85 degrees hot! chatting with the old guys from the Hilltop Campground who pulled up to watch me paint and millions of red ants...shaking ants off me and the painting while painting, um a little distracting. Need to add a little detail in the water to this one. Then on to Bass Harbor Inn, stayed here last year when I painted in the area. A beautiful, very cozy, reasonably priced inn on the quiet side of the Island, Barbara is a great innkeeper. Enjoyed dinner at The Seafood Ketch patio with a beautiful sunset. Will paint around Acadia tomorrow for great last day of my NB adventure.
