30 Paintings in 30 Days 20/30 Golden Road Marsh 18

5 days, 10 paintings, 630 miles driven, 3 sales, 1 painting going to DC Senator's office...exhausted and smiling! Last painting of my trip this morning, headed out to the Golden Road with painting friend Kitty Clark, worked hard to finish before the rain, over 20 degree temperature change today, then we went for a delicious hot lunch at the AT Cafe in Millinocket. Spent some time at North Light Gallery before heading home, had two sales and a painting chosen for Senator Angus King's Washington DC office for display! Thank you to my two new collector's, North Light Gallery and Maine's Independent Senator!

30 Paintings in 30 Days 18 and 19 Abol Falls and Doubletop from Barren Brook

Painted this morning with KPAP (Katahdin Plein Air Painters) at Abol Falls, Marsha Donahue, Suzanne Savage Brewer and Deb Grabber. We met at 7 am at the North Woods Trading Post and headed out to paint, a warm clear day with perfect views of Katahdin and fall foliage. We worked really hard! Then we had a quick lunch and off to the rest of our Sunday. I headed into Baxter Park and decided to paint another one of Doubletop from Barren Brook, the black flies were out in force at both spots! Had a great day of painting, nine paintings in three full days of painting! I am exhausted, lots of driving to get to all the sights on the Golden Rad and in the park.

30 Paintings in 30 Days 15, 16, 17 Millinocket Lake and Katahdin from Lunksoos

Painted at Millinocket Lake today after a little trip into town for supplies. Set up right at the beach and spent the day working hard! Did another of the island and then tried something a little different. The reflections on the water were lovely. After two of the Lake, I had a snack and looked through my photos and found a beautiful one of a sunset from Lunksoos Camps that I took on a painting retreat in 2012, I sat and painted a small painting from the pic.

30 Paintings in 30 Days 11,12,13,14 Millinocket Lake, Golden Road Marsh, Sunday Pond, Katahdin from Togue Pond

Had a great day painting in the Katahdin area! It was unseasonably warm with clear blue skies. I started out with a painting of the island in Millinocket Lake from Big Moose Inn then headed out to the Golden Road to a favorite marsh spot, the fall color is glorious in the bright sunlight.I was planning to head to Kidney Pond in Baxter Park, but got a little distracted along the way. Then I stopped at the road to Sunday Pond couldn't resist the marsh just before the turn off. I had stopped here with Susan Savage Brewer on my last painting trip a couple of weeks ago and the light was wrong, so we didn't paint here, but today! WOW! The sky behind the marsh had some dramatic clouds too. I soon realized the folly of painting by the marsh though, the black flies were still out and were eating me to death in the hot sun, this painting was done quickly! Then dozens of Lady Bugs swarmed all over me! I was pretty tired and hot so I drove to Togue Pond to cool off and put my feet in the…

30 Paintings in 30 Days 9/30 and 10/30 Art Party!

Tonight I taught an ART PARTY at River Tree Arts in Kennebunk, Maine. I was lucky to have 13 students in one class! Earlier today I painted an 8 x 10 on canvas to use as an example and then lead the class through the painting on a canvas board, it was fun! I baked a batch of Toll House cookie bars for the class and there was wine too! A picture of the final paintings...we had a nice chat about what everyone had done...and here they are!

30 Paintings in 30 Days 7/30 and 8/30 Maynard's Marsh Daicey Pond, Baxter Park, Maine

Painted in Baxter Park with my friend Suzanne Savage Brewer today, we met up at Big Moose Inn at 7:30 am, it was super windy. We decided to go into Baxter to try to find a sheltered spot to paint. We picked Maynard's Marsh near Daicey Pond...a low cloud cloud hung over the mountain all day, 47 degrees, rained lightly on and off. It was quite a challenge to paint this scene! My large canvas blew off the easel 3 times. We both noticed after a couple of hours that we were freezing cold, I was shivering most of the time. We were there all day, I did two paintings.

Getting caught up on my 30 Paintings in 30 Days Project. Painted today in an annual plein air event held by North Light Gallery in Millinocket, Maine for the Trail's End Festival. Twelve artists painted all over the Katahdin and Baxter Park area today and the work will be hung in the gallery on Saturday, September 13 and the artists will walk in the parade through downtown Millinocket. My first painting spot was at Kidney Pond in Baxter Park, I hiked in to Moose View found this beautiful view of Katahdin, a perfect place.

Then I went out to the Park Tote Road and painted Doubletop Mountain. I was eaten alive by black flies! painted very quickly!

30 Paintings in 30 Days 4/30 Tidewater Farm, Falmouth, Maine

Painted this afternoon at Tidewater Farm in Falmouth, Maine. A beautiful Falmouth Land Trust property. I headed there after high tide mid afternoon and was lucky to be there for low tide, I love mud! This is my 4th painting in my 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge. I've had a few very busy days, need to do some catching up! I had two gallery show openings in the past week, the closing gala at Aucocisco Galleries in Portland, baked 6 dozen cupcakes and painted! Love this time of year, beautiful fall colors are starting....
